The Surayya Majid Trust Hospital’s story begins with the remarkable journey of its founder, Haji Abdul Majid. In 1960, Haji Abdul Majid undertook a grueling journey on foot from Tandlianwala to what was then Lyallpur, now Faisalabad. His relentless hard work, honesty, and strong character earned him the admiration of the local business community and opened the doors to divine blessings. Known affectionately as Sheikh, he gained respect and recognition for his integrity and extraordinary abilities, which laid the groundwork for his future endeavors.
As Haji Abdul Majid’s fortunes improved, so did his desire to give back to the community. His growing spirit of philanthropy took shape in a momentous way when he laid the foundation stone for the Surayya Majid Trust Hospital on November 28, 2000, coinciding with the 1st of Ramadan 1421 AH. This act of laying the foundation was a profound expression of his faith and commitment to serving humanity. Despite facing the devastating diagnosis of cancer, his resolve to help others remained unshaken, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his cause.
The passing of Haji Abdul Majid on November 15, 2003, during the 19th of Ramadan, was a significant loss. As the Quranic verse reminds us, “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.” Although his departure was a somber moment, his legacy lived on through his sons—Haji Muhammad Siddiq, Haji Muhammad Rafiq, Haji Muhammad Shafiq, Haji Muhammad Idris, Haji Abdul Hafeez, Haji Abdul Latif, and Muhammad Tauseef. Under the guidance of the Trust’s Chief Patron, Khawaja Muhammad Islam, they have continued to advance their father’s vision.
Today, the Surayya Majid Trust Hospital stands as a proud testament to Haji Abdul Majid’s enduring legacy. With its 100-bed capacity and state-of-the-art facilities, the hospital is well-equipped to provide high-quality medical care to the community.
